ALLUSION	A widely recognized reference to a date person place or thing specific to the example
ANTHROPOMORPHISM	Taking an object and giving it human and animal traits not (but not thought and emotion)
OXYMORON	Two contradicting words (Freezer burn)
PARADOX	?. . .aha! Sounds puzzling but then begins to make sense
ANALOGY	Extended comparison between two unlike things to show how they are alike
PERSONIFICATION	Giving thought and emotion to an object
ANECDOTE	An entertaining story with a lesson, and a point
PUN	Play on words: same words with different meanings or same sounding words
SIMILE	A comparison between unlike things (as, like, than, resemble)
